I’ve never driven a motorcycle, but I’d really like to start. I would like to know what is the best place to find information about motorcycles and riding.
Go to AMA website or go to any MC dealer and ask for information for a beginners rider safety course.
Do not spend big bucks on your first bike for 2 reasons. First , you might decide that riding is not for you. Second, everyone drops their first bike at least once.
I suggest before you get a bike that you are totally comfortable driving a car with a standard transmission.

I want to buy some fiction books for my nephew that have motorcycles in them (either character rides them or is a part of the story) don’t want non-fiction books. Does anyone have a recommendation? I tried amazon and chapters, but can’t do such a specific search like that.
Somewhere Fast by Bob Beltz
Over the Handlebars: A Selection of Motorcycle Stories by Don Gately
6 Chambers 1 Bullet: A Novel by Ralph "Sonny" Barger

I live in ca if that helps
I'm planning on doing this, tell me if im wrong
Getting drivers license, taking written test for motorcycles, getting insurance for motorcycles, buying a motorcycle then riding around on residential streets for a while, taking msf course, getting motorcycle license
you got the first two right, but from there you need the following:
-Drive for 2-3 years to learn how traffic moves and how to avoid ALL dangers on the road.
- Take the motorcycle permit test and get your permit.
- Shop for properly fitting motorcycle gear, including a full face helmet, jacket, boots, pants and gloves. Plan on $500 – $1000 for good gear.
- Sign up for and take an MSF course in your area.
- Shop for a small USED bike, not a 600cc sportbike, and definitely not a 1000cc bike! You WILL drop it when learning, and new parts are expensive. Better to have an ugly first bike and a pretty second or third one.
- Buy a book titled Proficient Motorcycling and read it like the bible. Practice what you learn within its pages forever.
- Take it slow and safe, and remember that EVERYONE is out to get you, and no matter what happens YOU LOSE every time.
- Most importantly, have fun! Motorcycle riding is awesome, and the thrill is in the leaning, not the throttle.

I want a hands free radio, that I can use to communicate with my friends while snowboarding or riding motorcycles. Something that makes a good clear connection every time (within range). I want something that is either a throat mic or voice activated. What do the pro’s use? I know there are tactical ones for like 500 bucks, but I don’t want to pay THAT much.
I have a helmet with a radio hookup, but I want something easier. Like a throat mic and earpiece.
look for a helmet with the radio built in

Which of these motorcycles has the better exhaust sound: Kawasaki Ninja 500 or the Suzuki GS500F? I know that the sound can be modified in a multitiude of ways, but I’m talking about stock. Thanks!
-"Them motorcycles were fast and loud , they went voom, vooom, voom"
-"No, no it went more bike Veen Veeeeeeeeen, Veeen".
-"Sound good cause they didn’t cost a dime…shoot"
-"Yeah shoot"
SORRY I COULDEN’T RESIST – to answer your question get a harley or a buell. Those Buells sound great to me – not as much top speed but plenty of torque for handling fast in the twisty roads.

i am looking for a cheaper shoe/boot that i can wear on the motorcycle, but not have to change shoes after I’m done riding. i am looking to spend around 60 dollars at the most, unless it is something i really like. i want the fotwear to protect from road-rash and broken ankles if at all possible. no preference on steel-toed or not… what does everyone think?
Combat boots or something with heavy sole, leather and make sure it covers at least your ankles.

What do people like about being on a motorcycle? I don’t ride so I don’t get it but I am curious what the appeal is for people who love to ride? I get that there is the "freedom of the open road" but you can get that in a car without the noise, the heat (or cold), and danger of getting squashed.
Motorcycle people – explain it to me
The previous responders make good points. I also like to add a bit to it in regard to the freedom;
being on the open road on a bike just feels so different. Whenever you go back with a bike to all of the places you’ve ridden to in a car, it’s an entirely different experience. Some people like convertibles because it gives them that open cockpit feel, and a motorcycle does this even better.
It’s also the sound, the way that it handles, how you operate it, shifting through the gears with your foot and working a clutch with your hand, there is nothing like it.
Furthermore, the community. If you are on a long trip and stop somewhere for a break, you may find another bike rider and it’s perfectly cool to go up to a complete stranger and talk about their bike and yours. Other riders wave to you. There are little challenges along the way; riding in the rain, maybe a near miss, fatigue… and you know when the rider that goes past you in the other direction waves, you know that he’s been through everything you’ve been through.
You will also have experiences on a bike on long trips that would never have happened in a car. Meeting people along the way, driving to places you might not have and if you’re hardcore, camping out in places you wouldn’t have had you been in your car.
You can smell all kinds of things on the road. Burning oil. A rain storm coming in, someone smoking a joint in front of you, an industrial area of town. You ride through areas of hot and cold and the temperature may change as the road dips.
Altogether it’s an entirely different and joyous experience that words cannot do justice. Only after riding regularly for an extended period of time will you know for sure if it’s something you can appreciate or not.
