Can I use the carpool lane on the San Mateo Bridge riding a Motorcycle? I’ve looked it up on the DMV website and the driver’s handbook says that motorcycles can use diamond lanes unless otherwise noted. The San Mateo Bridge says Carpools Only… does this exclude motorcycles?

I would think if the statute allows bikes in an HOV lane (as most of them do) you would be good notwithstanding the signage. I would ride it, and if tagged, go to court prepared to defend with a copy of the statute.
