In B.C., Canada, …
In B.C., Canada, after the written, test for the motorcycle, you must do one of these tests to have the restrictions removed (ie. freeway, etc), for the final test, an examiner follows you like you described for an hour and tells you what to do and judges you.

that’s gotta be a …

Nope, try again. …
Nope, try again. 125cc is M1, even a 49cc scooter is M1 in California. Lots of people use small scooters to get their M1 easily in CA.

The difference is complicated, but basically if it can go over 30mph and/or has pedals (or is capable of human propulsion), it is considered a moped/motorized bicycle and requires only an M2 license.

I used to think …
I used to think this is impossible and did MSF classes to avoid this. Now I have ridden a similar small dual sport bike daily, out of curiosity, I went to the DMV and rode it out. and I passed, basically look way ahead where you are going.

I can say that the MSF is definitely worth it. I think most experienced dirt rider can pass this test but will be ill prepared for the road.

I’m so glad I got my endorsement years ago and kept it, even through 4 states and even when I didn’t have a bike.
It’s way easier than going through all the red tape!
IF you have the M endorsement, just pay the little bit extra to keep it.

you get your permit …
you get your permit first by passing the written test. after, you’re supposed to ride for 20 days with someone else on a bike riding next to you but they don’t really check for that.
