You would die a slower and painful death if they had seat-belts while you were strapped to the bike…

I think that’s one of the best questions I’ve heard in my life.

Woah, you’re right. You’re holding on to their waist, how is that protection?

Oh and this sounds silly, but what you if you like accidentally tickle them? Haha won’t they have some issues?

*ADDED AFTER EDIT:*

Maybe it’s so it doesn’t drag you across the road or something…

Hmm.
You’d be like strapped to your death basically, right?

You wouldn’t want to wear a seat belt while riding a bike or a scooter either, right?
Other people have cited some good reasons why you don’t wear a seatbelt…………..now a HELMET, that’s different…….it keeps your melon from being squished…..

it cant have a "seatbelt" because you have nothing supporting your back! but you can have a lap belt. it would not make any sense because either way you are hitting the concrete head first… its not like a car when you have a wind shield doors air bags and all those federal safety standards… i would rather have a crash in a Daewoo (knocking on wood) than crash in a motor cycle

Most motorcycle accidents cause a lot of harm to those involved. Keeping the cyclist attached to the motorcycle would cause a lot more harm then if they would be flung into a ditch somewhere.

it wouldn’t be safe to be strapped to a motorcycle in a high side fall the bike would crush both you and the rider ,in a low side fall you’ll be dragged with the bike until it came to a stop,in either case when your involved in an accident with a bike it’s best to get away from the bike since most street bikes weigh form the smallest bikes being 300lbs and some of the biggest bikes weighing close to 1,000lbs

It’s not dangerous enough to require them.

Actually, if you are holding on for dear life, the operator is doing something wrong.
A passenger should NEVER have to hold on "for dear life".

Helmets – I was told once I should have been wearing one after being involved in an accident. Looking back, I see why. They would have preferred me to have snapped my neck instead of getting up on my own two feet.
