I’m in Florida, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
i can tell u my experience in mn, the skills test was in a parking lot, no hwys. all about control at low speeds. zig-zag cones. mine had a part where you had 20 of feet cones a foot apart an were timed how slow u could go with feet on the pegs. to fast through it you fail that part, good luck hope u pass it.

Keep your feet off the ground, braking on curve, stopping with feet up then put down don’t drag…

This is from the FL DMV. It is the section of the handbook that describes the riding/skill test.

The other answers are essentially correct. As an MSF instructor, the criteria we use are generally the same as described in the link.

tell yourself that you are going to do fine – you will do just fine if you take it slow and don’t get too nervous – get plenty of sleep the night before the test so that you won’t need as much caffeine in the morning.

Ok the biggest problem is keeping you feet on the pegs at all time and wish you had asked this question days ago, ride like a pro tell you when riding slow and have to balance the bike you put your foot on the rear brake and giving it a little gas and have the clutch in between full out and all the way in, you will be giving it gas, working the clutch in the friction zone and using your rear brake, this is something you should practice before going there to see if you get it right if not just do your best to not put your feet down, and when I took my test the hardest part was a figure eight in a side street. hope I helped you and good luck. Mike

What they really want to know is if you know the bikers riding rules and if you are able to control your ride.

Me, i am a rider and have taken the test twice, BC I had let my riding licence go for about 15 yrs.
The hardest thing is the slow turn. They make you turn in a slow slow turn so what you want to do is not move fast but not too slow where you put your foot down. I would practice this at least 10 times before you go. Go really slow in the driveaway or parking lot in tiny circles very very slow.
It’s dumb that they test this way as who the hell drives like that? But then again they are a typical idiot government agency lol.

I have no information about Florida but I can give you some information about Connecticut that may apply. The riding test in CT is the same as your Florida test that a previous poster showed the link to. You can also take the MSF class and get a waiver to the riding exam. When I got my license the class was not an option and they were less strict. Now that the class is an option the DMV staff are very strict. They figure if you were good enough to skip the class you should be able to do the course perfect.
Either take the MSF course or go to an empty parking lot and practice the DMV exam
