Looking for a navigation system like Tomtom that is bicycle friendly?
Both my parents have a tomtom, and after seeing how well it works I want one too. I do not, however, own a car. Nor will I be getting one within the next few years, due to the price of gas and car insurance. Unfortunately I’m terrible with navigation and can’t find my way through my own town. I’m looking for a navigation system that can direct me on a bicycle. (Preferably on the sidewalk) Does such a thing even exist?

Tomtom makes a GPS unit specifically for motorcycles that would work. It is the most expensive unit. It is water-proof and more durable than the other units. It also comes with a headset that you can wear with a helmet so you can hear your instructions. One feature you won’t need is the battery cable that would allow you to power your tomtom from the motorcycle battery.

Or you could buy a mount for your bike (from someplace like http://mountguys.com ) to use with any tomtom unit, but that would technically void your warranty.

One thing to watch out for is the battery life. Most of the tomtom units only last a couple hours without being plugged in while driving.
